Why on-demand fails at this hour
Between roughly 1 and 4 AM, two things happen at once. Driver supply is at its lowest — most are asleep, as one would hope. And demand is concentrated, because airlines cluster departures into an early wave, so a large number of people all want a cab in the same narrow window to the same destination.
