What are the Devarayanadurga temple timings?
The temples open 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, with abhishekham at 11:00 AM. This matters more than it sounds: people drive up for the sunrise, reach the top by 6 AM and find the shrine shut for another four hours. Do the viewpoint first and the temple after.
What is the difference between Yoga Narasimha and Bhoga Narasimha?
Position, mostly. Bhoga Narasimha sits at the foot of the hill and Yoga Narasimha at the top, so seeing both means the climb. If you are only doing one, the hilltop shrine is the one with the view.
Can I do Devarayanadurga and Mandaragiri in the same day?
Yes, and they are usually done together. Mandaragiri is about 19 km on from Devarayanadurga, a Jain temple on a monolith with a stepped walk up from the car park. The pair fits comfortably into one day from Bengaluru with time to spare.
How far is Devarayanadurga from Bangalore?
About 70 km, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours, out past Tumkur. The hill stands at around 3,900 feet, which is why the pre-dawn air up there is a good deal colder than the city you left.
How difficult is the DD Hills sunrise trek?
It is a beginner-friendly trek, a mix of steps and rocky trail taking roughly 45–60 minutes to the top at an easy pace. Average fitness is enough; carry water, wear grippy shoes, and bring a torch or use your phone light for the pre-dawn stretch.
What is special about Mandaragiri Hill?
Mandaragiri (Basadi Betta) is a single granite monolith near Tumakuru topped by Jain basadis, including the modern Guru Mandir shaped like a peacock-feather bunch (pinchi). The climb is short, around 400+ rock-cut steps, with wide views of the surrounding lakes and fields.
